- PLAN YOUR LIFE
There is what I call the three (3) phases of young life- age 20, age 25, and age 30- never misuse these important stages–they should be stages of achievements.
What do you want to achieve at age 20?, 25? 30?- Three phases of young life-numeric 3 Biblically is perfect number; so perfect life- defining moment of your life (these stages of life is crucial to who/what you become in the future and should not be wasted. If you misuse them, that stage is lost in regret and gone forever.
Have a dream -plan of your life and future at this stage so you can later on evaluate each stage and make improvements.
- IDENTIFY WHAT YOU WANT TO DO & IDENTIFY A ROLE MODEL
In Africa most people begin reasoning like adults when they reach sometimes 20+, in Europe is different. Latest by age 14 you should start identifying what interest you the most and identify some key people as role models who are in the field of your interest. They could be Computer coding experts, business tycoons, software engineers/developers, company owners, field of Art, Music Sport etc. But the sad thing is the environmental factor plays a major role; If you grow around parents who are not exposed to the world of opportunities or do not allow individualism and self-realization especially the strict academic conformist then you are in trouble, because they will obviously discourage and disorient your ambitions, unless you are really purposeful and resilient enough to be a rebel against their wish.
When this is done, start immediately working and learning about your interest- infact this age of internet is an age of opportunities and has made learning anything very easy, one can literally learn any skill courtesy of the internet. Lastly follow your role models and get updates on what they do; learn from them.
- THINK AHEAD OF WHAT SCHOOL TEACH YOU– YOUR REAL VALUE
Do not spend much of your time believing so much in your teachers and the books you ‘memorize’ in school. The sad reality is that what your teachers and school tell you do not reflect the reality on the ground, especially in this 21st century where school has outlived much of its relevance( this however do not mean you should abandon your academics entirely, keep a balance). Successful and wealthy people do not cling to school principles- unfortunately. An American rapper- JayZ when asked in an interview whether he feels intimidated sitting next to Academicians, he replies no! ‘’they learnt a bunch of theories, I learnt a bunch of real life experience’’ Quickly identify what your strength and potential is and start working towards it.
- SEE TIME AS A RESOURCE
Time is a resource given to us by God, how you use it in your early age determines what you becomes in the future , as such it must be used wisely to do productive things and never wasted. Jonathan Estrin-writer and TV producer said ‘’The way we spend our time defines who we are’’ also Charles Darwin said ‘’A man who dares to waste one hour of life has not discovered the value of life.’’ Do not spend much of your time partying, watching movies and playing video games, on social media, centering your life on flashy show off lifestyle which does not add up -use it to learn new skills. In fact some ‘’OGs’’(old guys) wish the clock could be turned around so they could have this golden moment once again so they could make amends, but that moment is lost and gone..!!
- LEARN ABOUT THE CONCEPT OF MONEY- PASSIVE/ACTIVE INCOME
Spend time to learn the concept of money and how to make money- understand what is Passive income and Active income. And when you understand these two chose which one you want to go with. Passive income will mean that you want to learn how to create a system for money to work for you in the future whiles you sleep, in that case you own a company or a scalable business, it could also be an innovation or invention that can give you generational residual income. Active income will require skills to work in a job in the case all your life you become an employee working in job till retirement; mostly requires academic certification.
- OWN YOUR OWN BUSINESS OR COMPANY, NOT JOB
After understanding all these and taking the right step, at age 30, you should be able to own your own company, business or good income flow establishment.
- TRAVEL AROUND THE WORLD- ENJOY YOUR SUCCESS
Finally take your beautiful wife, travel around the world and have fun. It will be sad to be born in your country, live in your country and die in your country without even knowing your country’s airport, sad right??
Summary
Life is a journey that is put into stages and those stages should be identified and taken seriously. The element of time is a resource which should not only be used productively but at the right stage of life; a less regard to time and the necessary stages means a bigger regret in future.
