Dagaabas the Lost sons of Jacob

Politics, history, religion has been a battle of supremacy and dominance since the introduction of civilization to man. Unfortunately, through political oligarchy lot of historical religious narratives has been maliciously twisted to drive home a supremacy agenda which has led to indoctrinations and subsequently inferiority complex among black skinned people.

When the Bible talk about Hebrews, what lot of people might not know is that, some or most of African tribes were originally direct Hebrew people who are in Africa and scattered across the globe. And this include a tribe in the Upper West region of Ghana known as Dagaabas. Some people reading this might doubt, but wait till I prove my case.

In my previous blog/Youtube video I talked about the origin of “black” people and “white” people, where I challenged the notion of race . In that content you will notice that Biblical archival theory revealed that Jacob Essau’s twin brother was black while his brother Essau was white. The favor of God fortunately was on Jacob who was chosen to birth the nation of Israel thus, the twelve tribes of Israel. Among the twelve tribes Dagaabas can trace their origin to the tribe of Dan.

Dan was the son between Jacob and Bilhah, the housemaid of Jacob’s wife Racheal. Between Jacob and Bilhah they had Dan and his brother Naphtali, means the tribe of Naphtali and Dan were direct brothers. It is worth noting that is not only the Dagaaba tribe that are from Jacob and therefore the only African descendants of Jacob, there are other African tribes too, for instance the Cameroonians are also direct descendants of Judah and certain Ethiopian tribes are also direct descendants of Jacob.

One will ask, how do know that Dagaabas are direct Hebrews? Just look at the culture, the tradition, the food, the language, the Biblical settlements.

First of all lets look at the  Biblical settlement. It worth to not that, not all the tribe the Israelites crossed Jordan to Canaan, some took their settlement portion outside Canaan. The tribe of Dan earlier were allocated a portion to dwell at Gilead, and Gilead comprises of Aroer, Gibeon, and Jazer.

Later on when the king Og of Bashan and king Sihon of the Amonites were also defeated, their land, the land of Bashan was picked up by the half tribe of Manneseh, the Reubenites, and the tribe of Gad. This was a land they presented a request to Moses to dwell in due to its good agricultural typology, this is because these tribes just like the Danites were predominantly farmers. This land was given to them on the agreement that they will crossover with their brothers to help defeat the Canaanites, and after this was fulfilled they came over and dwelled in Bashan.

In that settlement at Bashan, the tribe of Reuben took the land of the Moabites which shared boundaries with the tribe of Dan. Later resettlement brought the tribe of Dan closer to the tribe of Gad and they also shared closer boundaries. These two Hebrew tribes intermarried and interestingly diffused their identities which metamorphosized in the cut out tribe-Dagaaba.  So linguistically is from the name Dan+Gad= Dagaaba and subsequently the language- Dagaare.

Also note that these tribes, Dan, Gad, the Reubenites, half tribe of Manaseh  were considered pure Hebrews because they married among themselves and the purity of the Hebrew culture was maintained, and that is why the Bible refer to them as the Jezerites. So you now understand why Dagaabas still maintained traces of the Hebrew culture which are still practiced?

So how did the other tribes that crossover to Canaan lose their Hebrew purity? Remember that God asked that when the children of Israel get to Canaan they should not leave anyone alive but destroy all of them and all their gods (Deuteronomy 20:16-18) but out of their stubbornness they left some of them, and intermarried with them and they became a snare unto them and lured them into idol worship.

Worth noting is that these Canaanites tribe were basically white people, and this automatically allowed them to dwell together and considered as Israelites, that partly is the reason there are lot more white Israelites than black Israelites in Israel today. This is even part of the repercussion Israel is suffering today.

So how come that Dagaabas who are originally from the tribe of Dan not in Israel? We lost this disconnect in 2kings 17:3-6 when the king of Assyria-king Shalmaneser  in 720 BC invaded Samaria and took away the ten(10) tribes away as captives and brought in seven other tribes to settle in Samaria. And that is why the remaining two tribes of the Israel Benjamin and Judah who were at Southern Israel did not consider them as their brothers and there was a constant rift between them. Even till the time of Christ, and that was why the woman at the well refused to give Jesus water when he requested for water to drink.

Constant wars has resulted in a split and currently the ten tribes we are scattered across the globe.

With this background ascertained lets now look at the culture the linguistics that proves our Hebrew lineage.  In fact through geographical resettlements intercultural marriages has toned down and evaporated much of the Hebrew language among Dagaabas, we still have traces of the Hebrew language in Dagaare some of which are presented below:

Hebrew

Hebrew Dagaare
Paala-Wonderful/New  Paala-Wonderful/New
 Mal’ahk-Angel  Malaka-Angel
 Bareka-Blessings/Thank you Bareka-Blessings/Thank you
Yeshua-Jesus  Yesu-Jesus

Also lets look at the culture and traditions. In Hebrew marriage traditions, a woman who engages infidelity or sex outside her marriage is abhorred upon and considered defiled. Just as God made that reference in Jeremiah 3:1-25, same way in the Dagaaba culture a married woman who plays the harlot outside her marriage has a dire consequences on her can even result in a plague on her or the husband and she is not permitted back to the marriage until certain ritual purifications are done.

Also with presenting of what is known as “first fruits”, where the children of Israel brought in to the alter of God the first fruits of their yields was an ordinance that God commanded the children of Israel to do. Dagaabas still do it, just that, that disconnection from Yahweh has made them corrupt that into idol ritual.

In hunting, Dagaabas use what is known as ‘’kpalaa’’ in English known as sling to hunt or in the farm to scare away animals from the farm, it was the same ‘‘kpalaa’‘ David used to hunt down Goliath.

Also in the Hebrew culture a stranger from a journey is given water to wash his feet or legs. In the Dagaaba culture typically that tradition is practiced. This is done before you are served water to bath, food to eat and subsequently a place to sleep. Unfortunately through cultural dynamism and global contemporary lifestyles and paradigm shifts, some of these practices are getting slackened off and out of existence.

So currently we are part of the twelve tribe lost in the world, so this means that our close brothers are the two remaining tribes, Judah and Benjamin currently in Israel.
